How to Reach Sam Sand Dunes from Jaisalmer
Sam Sand Dunes is most commonly reached by road from Jaisalmer, and the drive itself is a big part of the experience. As you leave the city behind, the road opens into open desert and the landscape becomes increasingly wide and quiet.
The usual route is a short road transfer from Jaisalmer, often taking around 45 minutes to an hour depending on where your camp is located and how you choose to travel. Many visitors prefer to go in the late afternoon to catch sunset and continue straight into a camp evening with music, dinner, and stargazing.
If you are arriving from Jodhpur or another major city, you can also reach Jaisalmer by train or bus first and then continue by road to the dunes. It is a straightforward trip, but it helps to leave enough time for the drive and to avoid planning everything too tightly around sunset timing.
